About Roxana
This is how we choose to live.”
HerStory
I’m a bilingual communication coach, filmmaker, somatic guide, and lifelong student of transformation – with over 10,000 hours of experience supporting professionals and leaders in expressing their truth across cultures and languages.
I believe that continuous learning is the key to personal growth, conscious leadership and harmony in the world. We don’t need to change the world first, we need to face what we’ve been avoiding, integrate it, and heal ourselves. From that coherence, real change ripples outward.
Born in Italy and raised between Italian and British cultures, I know first-hand the challenges and beauty of living – and leading – across borders. Though I’m considered a native English speaker, I spent years navigating the quiet complexities of speaking in a language that, while fluent, didn’t always feel fully mine.
That experience shapes everything I do.
From Cultural Displacement to Creative Transformation & Inner Alignment
My path didn’t follow a linear arc — it moved through immersion, disorientation, and eventually, deep creative inquiry.
I moved to the UK young enough to adapt quickly, but not without cost. Though I became a native-level English speaker, articulate and expressive, the journey was far more than linguistic. It was existential.
Later, while studying English literature at university, I was the only foreign student in my programme. Immersed in the abstract territories of Post-Structuralism and Deconstruction, I wasn’t just exploring linguistics, I was living it. Language was no longer just a tool. It was identity.
The more fluent I became, the more untethered I felt from who I had been.
I later came to name this an identification rearrangement: a radical shift in how I experienced Self through the lens of language and cultural belonging.
It was disorienting, painful, and ultimately catalytic.
Storytelling as Soul Integration
That inner fragmentation eventually led me to find refuge in filmmaking. I had already begun using cinematography as a way to explore consciousness and narrative as part of my first degree.
Behind the camera, I began stiching together narrative and consciousness, expression and exile. And, even though I didn’t immediately find coherence, I had found an outlet to creatively express my inner turmoil.
My final dissertation became the seed for my short film X Isles – a creative exploration of identity that later gained academic recognition and led to speaking invitations at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
To my surprise, it resonated.
People saw themselves in it, even if their stories were different. Because exile, after all, is universal. The search for voice, for coherence, and home is sacred.
X Isles
“X Isles is the journey in the private world of a young woman ‘living and breathing’ abroad. Like a visual stream of consciousness, this is a highly personal work, produced during a period of intense questioning and inner search, on issues such as identity and its construction, sense of belonging, history and globality.”
— Roxana Chiarelli, “Shooting from the Belly,” in Spinning Lifelines: Women’s Autobiographical Writing, ed. Lucy Lewis, Cambridge, 2003
This wasn’t just a film. It was a bridge. Between cultures, between personal narrative and collective memory, between fragmentation and meaning.
Next, I entered film school at Bournemouth University, and then stepped fully into the film world, collaborating with renowned Italian and British directors, including Ermanno Olmi, Ferzan Ozpetek, and Sergio Castellitto, and working alongside the producer of The Full Monty.
Then — life interrupted.
A major health crisis invited me into stillness. A pause that stretched far longer than I imagined. But in that space, something new emerged.
From Film to Coaching: The Hero’s Journey
I didn’t return to filmmaking as a career. Instead, I chose to carry its essence into something more intimate and lasting: coaching. I began working with individuals in the way filmmakers work with their stories, guiding them through their own Hero’s Journey and the filmmaker’s gaze.
This marked the beginning of my coaching path. I continued my learning and to train in life coaching, NLP, cross-cultural coaching, shadow work, deprogramming with archetypes and somatic release.
Buddhist practice became the spine of my resilience. Language teaching to non-native speakers became integrated in my work too.
And all of these threads, every frame, every silence, every scar, now live inside the space I hold for others.
My work is still creative. Still expressive.
But now it’s rooted in helping people move through their turning points and become sovereign, truthful, and unshakably whole.
“Now we are both here, present and sincere. This is how we choose to live.”
This is the foundation of my work: showing up fully and authentically, for myself and for those I guide. I believe the true power of transformation comes when we commit to being present, with no pretenses, and in alignment with who we truly are. This is the kind of leadership I support: grounded, courageous, and rooted in truth.

Since 2002
The Journey has been long, full of adventures, milestones, and deep learning.
After my English degree, film school followed. Then a career in postproduction was interrupted by a major health crisis, 8 years later. An illness brought chaos into my life and the only way I could overcome it was by facing my deepest fears, feeling them fully, and courageously letting them go.
My exploration of Oriental Studies and a solid Buddhist practice began in 2002, which opened the doors to the personal development world. A practice that’s now deeply embedded in my daily life.
In 2006, I started formal life coaching training, which evolved over the years, including more recent work in Deprogramming with Archetypes (2022/23). I am currently training in somatic coaching and working with shadow work — combining the two to help release trapped energy from trauma in the body.
Each of these milestones has been a crucial step in honing my approach, blending the cognitive and somatic aspects of coaching to create a truly transformational experience for my clients.

Harnessing Your Potential
My Philosophy
My name is Fiamma, Flame in English. The flame symbolises the spark of consciousness and the inner fire. The Romans, inspired by Hestia the Greek Goddess of Fire, revered Vesta as the Fire Goddess of the hearth and home, who embodies both outer warmth and inner glow.
This powerful symbolism still stands true today.
By dutifully and tenderly looking after ourselves and bringing warmth to our surroundings, we can amplify the fire element, cleanse our energy to bring vitality and burn our brightest. We can learn from the Greek devotion to Hestia and the Roman devotion to Vesta that the boundaries between our interior and exterior worlds are semi-permeable and that we have the power to evaporate our barriers, allowing our inner and outer flames to intertwine in a dynamic dance of transformational alchemy.
