About Roxana

“Now we are both here, present and sincere.
This is how we choose to live.”

HerStory

I’m a bilingual communication coach, filmmaker, somatic guide, and lifelong student of transformation—with over 10,000 hours of experience supporting professionals and leaders in expressing their truth across cultures and languages.

I believe that continuous learning is the key to personal growth, conscious leadership and harmony in the world. We don’t need to change the world, we need to start healing and changing ourselves, and the rest will simply be a ripple effect stemming from that new mindset.

Born in Italy and raised between Italian and British cultures, I know first-hand what it means to live—and lead—across borders. Though I’m considered a native English speaker, I spent years navigating the quiet complexities of speaking in a language that, while fluent, didn’t always feel fully mine.

That experience has shaped everything I do.

From Cultural Displacement to Creative Transformation & Inner Alignment

My path didn’t follow a linear arc—it evolved through layers of movement, immersion, disorientation, and ultimately, deep creative inquiry.

I moved to the UK from Italy when I was still young enough to adapt quickly, but not without cost. Though I became a native-level English speaker, fluent and articulate, the journey was far more than linguistic. It was existential.

Later, while studying English literature at university, I was the only foreign student in my programme. Immersed in the abstract territories of Structuralism and Deconstruction, I wasn’t just exploring linguistics theory—I was confronting on my own skin how language constructs identity. I experienced what I later named an identification rearrangement—a complete reshaping of how I perceived myself through the lens of language and culture. The more fluent I became, the more untethered I felt from who I had been.

At times, I felt utterly lost. My relationship with English was somatic, rapid, and overwhelming—and it triggered a profound identity crisis that left me unsure of who I really was.

That disorientation eventually led me to find refuge in filmmaking. I had already begun using the camera as a way to explore consciousness and narrative as part of my first degree.

Visual storytelling became my way of stitching together patterns that blurred the boundaries between identity, language, and belonging. And, even though I didn’t immediately find coherence, I had found an outlet to creatively express my inner turmoil.

My final dissertation at university became the first step in transforming this internal journey into something tangible. That project grew into X Isles, a short film that later gained academic recognition and led to speaking invitations at Oxford and Cambridge Universities—and to my surprise, I discovered that people identified with it in their own unique ways:

X Isles

“X Isles is the journey in the private world of a young woman ‘living and breathing’ abroad. Like a visual stream of consciousness, this is a highly personal work, produced during a period of intense questioning and inner search, on issues such as identity and its construction, sense of belonging, history and globality.”
Roxana Chiarelli, “Shooting from the Belly,” in Spinning Lifelines: Women’s Autobiographical Writing, ed. Lucy Lewis, Cambridge, 2003

This wasn’t just a film. It was a bridge—between cultures, between personal narrative and collective themes, between fragmentation and meaning.

From there, I went on to film school, at Bournemouth University, and then stepped fully into the film world—working with renowned Italian and British directors, including Ermanno Olmi, Ferzan Ozpetek, and Sergio Castellitto, and collaborating with the producer of The Full Monty.

Then life interrupted.

A major health crisis invited me into a new direction and called me to pause for what seemed forever—and in that stillness, I chose not to return to filmmaking as a career, but to carry its essence into something more intimate and lasting: coaching as transformation through the Hero’s Journey and the filmmaking process.

That’s when the real work began.

I continued to train in life coaching, NLP, cross-cultural coaching, somatic release with shadow work and deprogramming with archetypes.

I now bring all of that experience—linguistic insight, storytelling, somatic & deprogramming practices, Buddhist training, and lived transformation—into my coaching. My work is still creative. Still expressive. But now it’s focused on helping others move through their own turning points and become sovereign leaders.

Since 2002

The Journey has been long and full of adventures and milestones:

After my English degree, film school followed. Then a career in postproduction was interrupted by a serious illness 8 years later. The only way I could overcome the inner and outer chaos that a brain tumour brought to my life, was to simply face my deepest fears, feel them completely and then courageously let them go.

Oriental Studies and a solid Buddhist practice began in 2002, which opened the doors to the personal development scene, and it’s now part of my daily life.

The first formal life coaching training started in 2006 and continued throughout my career, with the more recent training in Deprogramming with Archetypes in 2022/23.

I am currently training in somatic work which, combined with the shadow work I do, becomes a super powerful tool for releasing the trapped energy of trauma from the body. I look forward to increasingly honing both cognitive and somatic coaching with my clients.

Harnessing Your Potential

My Philosophy

My name is Fiamma, Flame in English. The flame symbolises the spark of consciousness and the inner fire. The Romans, inspired by Hestia the Greek Goddess of Fire, revered Vesta as the Fire Goddess of the hearth and home, who embodies both outer warmth and inner glow.

This powerful symbolism still stands true today.

By dutifully and tenderly looking after ourselves and bringing warmth to our surroundings, we can amplify the fire element, cleanse our energy to bring vitality and burn our brightest. We can learn from the Greek devotion to Hestia and the Roman devotion to Vesta that the boundaries between our interior and exterior worlds are semi-permeable and that we have the power to evaporate our barriers, allowing our inner and outer flames to intertwine in a dynamic dance of transformational alchemy.
